The Last Year

The Last Year is a visual novel and sandbox game for players who enjoy slow-burn high school drama with a large cast of women. The tone leans nostalgic and personal, with mystery running underneath the everyday routine.

Story

Forced to leave the big city after money runs short, the protagonist moves back to his small hometown for one last year of high school. His mother arranges a cheap apartment, and from there the year is his to shape—through the people he meets, the choices he makes, and the relationships he lets form before graduation closes the door on that chapter for good.

Gameplay

Play unfolds as a point-and-click sandbox layered over visual novel scenes: move between locations in town, talk to the women in the MC's life, and make choices that steer how each relationship develops. Side activities and mini-games in areas like the mall and arcade give the day-to-day routine something to do beyond dialogue, with earned currency feeding back into small rewards. Progress is built gradually, chapter by chapter, as individual storylines advance alongside the main year.
